Role - Learning Support Assistant - South Bristol

Academics Bristol is recruiting for Learning Support Assistants to join a specialist SEND provision in South Bristol. This school supports children and young people aged 4-19 with severe or profound learning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) with complex needs, and significant barriers to learning.
We are looking for compassionate, highly motivated individuals with experience supporting children with SEND to help create a challenging, stimulating, and supportive learning environment where students can progress towards greater independence.
About the Learning Support Assistant role:
- 90 - 120 per day, depending on experience
- Immediate start - Term-time only
- Full-time, ongoing role
- Working with Early Years & Key Stage 1 pupils (ages 4 - 7)
- Supporting students with severe learning difficulties, ASD, SEMH needs, and complex needs, including those with physical, visual, or hearing impairments
- Encouraging student engagement and fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment
- Working within a multi-agency team that includes Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Paediatricians
This role is physically demanding and requires emotional and physical resilience.
What we're looking for in a Learning Support Assistant:
- Experience working with children or young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and/or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Knowledge of communication methods such as Makaton, PECS, or similar
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A commitment to supporting students on their journey from dependence with dignity to greater independence
