Eden Brown Synergy has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) with an interest to consider a Band 7 Senior role.

Full Time or Part Time: The opportunity can consider full time 37.5 p/w or 30 hours p/w - Monday to Friday

With leadership support in Therapies, the Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) will ensure the effective delivery of a highly specialist SLT service, through the provision of management, clinical supervision, and training of junior Speech and Language Therapy staff and students, while playing key role in maintaining high standards of clinical care and actively contributing to a wider service development

The Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) would be required to provide specialised support, particularly to patients with cognitive communication difficulties, work alongside an experienced MDT exercising complex clinical reasoning in regard to assessment, rehabilitation, discharge planning and managing patient caseloads across both wards.

The Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) would be responsible to:

  • Carry out comprehensive Speech and Language Therapy assessments (standardised and non-standardised) and outcome measurement as an autonomous practitioner for patients with highly complex neurological presentations following acquired and traumatic brain injury
  • Demonstrate specialist knowledge in instrumental evaluation of swallowing including interpretation of both video fluoroscopy and FEES reports
  • Use clinical reasoning skills and knowledge of evidence-based practice to determine appropriate care pathways utilising specialist treatment skills and options
  • Develop and oversee the implementation and evaluation of individualised treatment programmes and goals and provide advice to the Speech and Language Therapy and wider Inter-Disciplinary team
  • Develop comprehensive Speech and Language Therapy discharge plans, referring to and liaising with relevant community services
  • Always manage clinical risk within own caseload and support the clinical lead in managing clinical risk across the Speech and Language Therapy team
  • Be competent working with patients with non-ventilated tracheostomies, (or a wiliness to complete training)
  • Ensure that qualified Speech and Language Therapy staff receive regular clinical supervision, annual appraisals and comprehensive personal development plans
  • Provide clinical advice and support to the Speech and Language Therapy Team along with support staff and students
  • Attend relevant local meetings that have a direct impact on the Speech and Language Therapy team e.g. Clinical Governance and Team Meetings
  • Contribute to Centre based audits
  • Keep people safe from harm and protect their human rights

To qualify for this post the Speech & Language Therapist (SLT) would have:

  • HCPC registration
  • Post graduate training in dysphagia
  • Ability to manage a complex case load independently with proven expertise in the field of neurorehabilitation
  • Experience in supervising junior SLT team members, writing appraisals and action plans

Active involvement in service development projects
