Installation Telecommunications Engineer (VoIP)

My client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Installation Telecommunications Engineer specializing in VoIP systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining VoIP infrastructure for their clients. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of VoIP solutions.

Package:

Basic Salary: £30,000-£40,000 depending on experience

Car allowance: £5,000 per year

Holidays: 23 days + Bank Holidays

Overtime/On Call alternate weekends

Location: Bristol and Surrounding areas

Key Responsibilities:

    • Install, configure, and test VoIP hardware and software, including IP phones, servers, and gateways.
    • Integrate VoIP systems with existing telecommunication networks and IT infrastructure.
    • Collaborate with clients to assess requirements and design tailored VoIP solutions.
    • Create detailed documentation for system design, configurations, and project plans.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to VoIP systems, including call quality, connectivity, and configuration problems.
    • Perform regular maintenance, updates, and patches to ensure system reliability and security.
    • Conduct end-to-end testing to ensure VoIP solutions meet performance and quality standards.
    • Identify and mitigate potential risks during system integration and deployment
    • Provide training to clients on the use and management of VoIP systems.
    • Offer ongoing support and technical assistance post-installation.
    • Maintain accurate records of installations, configurations, and client interactions.
    • Prepare technical reports and provide feedback to project managers and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience in installing and configuring VoIP systems, including familiarity with SIP, RTP, and other communication protocols.
  • Proficiency with VoIP platforms Gamma and 8X8.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, including LAN/WAN, QoS, VPNs, and firewalls.
  • Certification such as CCNA Collaboration, Avaya Certified Specialist, or equivalent is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with tools for monitoring and troubleshooting VoIP systems.
