Brockenhurst College has an exciting opportunity for an IT Services Infrastructure Support Engineerto join their dedicated and enthusiastic team. Working on a full time, permanent basis you will receive a competitive salary of £35,524 - £41,193 per annum, DOE.

The IT Services Infrastructure Support EngineerRole:

You will ensure that the college’s systems and network devices are configured effectively and securely. To assist the IT Services Manager in the effective management of the College’s IT systems. To provide technical support within the department and across the college for all users of the College’s information technology systems; to ensure that staff and students receive the best possible support in accordance with College policies.

Key responsibilities required as our IT Services Infrastructure Support Engineer include:

  • Assisting the IT services manager with the configuration and securing of IT systems including network devices.
  • To maintain and build upon the College’s Azure and 365 environments, including Entra ID, conditional access and Intune.
  • Providing technical support within the department for escalated problems / issues that 1st, 2nd and 3rd line colleagues are unable to resolve.
  • Assisting in the allocation of calls logged in the Helpdesk system throughout each day, ensuring that calls have been prioritised, allocated and updated correctly and are being progressed by the IT team in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining and replacing network equipment on the main college site and off-site college locations.
  • Ensuring regular backups are taken, tested and restored as required in accordance with College policy for all key systems and ensure that effective logs are kept for future reference.
  • Carrying out software packaging and maintenance of applications for deployment College wide in consultation with end users and the wider team.
  • Working with the department management to follow, develop and continually update the change management control processes and procedures.

Skills and qualifications of our IT Services Infrastructure Support Engineer:

  • Qualified in a Level 3 IT qualification or higher
  • At least two years’ experience in a 2nd Line Support role and five years desktop experience
  • Current detailed experience in supporting Windows based systems
  • Proven experience with Azure and Office 365
  • Virtualisation experience
  • Good understanding of network security including Firewall technologies
  • Experience of liaising with suppliers and contractors
  • Maintaining and operating a network.
  • Experience of diagnosing and fixing faults at a high level
  • Working in-depth knowledge of Windows server
  • The ability to follow section procedures systematically
  • The ability to document procedures clearly and systematically and produce detailed technical documentation for College IT systems
