Assistant Director of Maths

We are seeking an Assistant Director for our Maths department. This role involves supporting the Director in managing the curriculum area, leading the learning experience, and enhancing the performance of the teaching and delivery team. The Assistant Director plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations and strategic planning within the department, ensuring high-quality outcomes and sustainable destinations for our learners.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the operational management of the curriculum area, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Develop and implement innovative curriculum offerings and delivery models to meet the needs of learners and stakeholders.
  • Lead on curriculum development, focusing on creating progression pathways that lead to positive student destinations.
  • Engage in regular monitoring, CPD planning, and support through collaboration with the Teaching Skills Academy and Human Resources.
  • Manage resources efficiently, ensuring the delivery of agreed targets and an excellent student experience.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with employers and other stakeholders to enhance learning opportunities.
  • Participate in the Duty Manager’s rota and ensure compliance with health and safety policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A degree or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Teaching qualification (DTTLS, PGCE, Cert Ed).
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in managing a team within an educational setting.
  • Proven background in successful teaching and implementing quality improvement processes.
  • Experience with Awarding Organisations and high standards in assessment and verification.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire during periods of change.
  • Excellent organisational, ICT, and communication skills.
