Crime Duty SolicitorUK QUALIFIED SOLICITORWe are a renowned multiservice law firm committed to access for justice. Our lawyers specialise in criminal defence, family law, housing, civil liberties and human rights. We are a Legal 500 and Chambers UK recommended firm who are currently recruiting a Duty Solicitor to join our Crime Team in our South East London office. This is a full-time position with the successful candidate being part of a dynamic and growing team.You will be responsible for:
  • Representing clients detained at police stations
  • Handling own caseload of criminal defence cases across a full range of different offences
  • Conducting advocacy in the Magistrates’ Court including summary trials (and Crown Court hearings if the candidate has Higher Rights)
About you:
  • Solicitors with at least 1 year’s PQE in criminal matters
  • Crime duty accreditation is preferred but not essential, although the successful candidate will be expected to obtain this accreditation if they do not already have it
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills
  • IT proficiency
  • Ability to manage a demanding caseload with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrates a pragmatic, professional and positive approach
  • Have a passion for publically funded work
  • Attention to detail and the confidence to work independently as well as in a team
  • Excellent client and team building skills
  • IT proficiency
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and remain calm whilst under pressure
