Social Worker (Best Interest Assessor)

We are excited to offer two positions for Best Interest Assessors within our Deprivation of Liberty service. This role is crucial in undertaking Best Interest Assessments in various settings and completing community deprivation of liberty applications to the Court of Protection.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Undertake Best Interest Assessments in residential/nursing homes and hospitals.
  • Complete community deprivation of liberty applications to the Court of Protection.
  • Work flexibly across a large geographical area covered by the team.
  • Maintain a protected caseload, with regular monitoring and support provided to manage this effectively.
  • Engage in the London Borough of Bromley's extensive training and development programme to further develop skills and knowledge.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Best Interest Assessor qualification in addition to A Dip SW, CQSW, or equivalent, or be RGN/RMN or OT qualified.
  • Registration with SWE, HCPC, or NMC.
  • Experience in completing mental capacity and best interests assessments.
  • Experience in completing Court of Protection Applications (COP3, COP24, and COP11).
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Human Rights Act, and other related legislation and codes of practice.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and make decisions concerning people’s liberty.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and clear communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in using social care systems like Liquid Logic, Excel spreadsheets, and capable of producing high-standard reports that withstand legal scrutiny.
