Are you a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher with a passion for supporting secondary-aged students? An exciting opportunity has emerged for an experienced SEN Teacher to join an Outstanding secondary-aged alternative provision in Lewisham, London, where you'll play a crucial role in helping students with special needs reach their full potential.Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver personalized lessons that cater to the unique needs and abilities of secondary school students with special educational needs.
  • Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) while collaborating with support staff and specialists to ensure comprehensive support for students.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages personal growth, emotional well-being, and academic achievement.
  • Carefully track and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and reports to inform future interventions and support strategies.
  • Utilize effective behaviour management techniques, de-escalation strategies, and positive reinforcement approaches to create a harmonious and productive learning atmosphere.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a proven track record of teaching secondary school students with special educational needs.
  • Strong understanding of the requirements of SEN education, adaptable teaching methods, and a commitment to individualized instruction.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and a collaborative mindset when working within a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a deep passion for supporting the educational and personal growth of secondary school students with SEN.
  • Familiarity with relevant policies, procedures, and legislations pertaining to special education.
