Location:Kent area (This is where the majority of packages will be)

Salary:up to 45K pa (Depending on experience)

Hours:08:30-5:30-6 pm

Job Overview

The Children's Complex Care Nurse is responsible for overseeing and delivering high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to children in their homes in line with their care plan and all care needs. You will be visiting families and packages in the Kent area, and signing off competencies, which is why it would be good if you live in or near the Kent area.

This role involves managing a team of HCAs (sometimes nurses), ensuring compliance with clinical standards, providing training, and coordinating care plans tailored to each child's needs. The nurse lead works closely with families, multidisciplinary teams, and external healthcare providers to promote the health and well-being of paediatric patients.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Clinical Leadership and Management:
  • Support and mentor the homecare HCA and Nursing team and manage the team supporting the patient
  • Develop, implement, and monitor care plans for paediatric patients.
  • Ensure high standards of care are delivered, meeting clinical guidelines and best practices.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clinical issues, resolving concerns promptly.
  • Participate in performance reviews and oversee staff development.
  • Patient-Centered Care:
  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of paediatric patients in their home environment.
  • Design individualised care plans in collaboration with families and the healthcare team.
  • Provide direct clinical care as needed, including complex nursing interventions.
  • Educate families on managing paediatric conditions, equipment, and medications at home.
  • Team Development and Training:
  • Organise and deliver training sessions for the nursing team on paediatric care standards, medical devices, and safety protocols.
  • Stay updated on advancements in paediatric care and disseminate knowledge to the team.
  • Support the induction and orientation of new staff members

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with a valid NMC registration.
  • Specialist training in paediatric nursing (essential).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in paediatric nursing, preferably in a community or homecare setting.
  • Proven leadership or managerial experience.

Skills:

  • Excellent clinical knowledge in paediatric care, including management of complex conditions.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in-patient assessment and care planning.
  • Familiarity with home medical equipment (e.g., ventilators, feeding tubes).
