Job Title: Production Supervisor
Location: Orsett Grays, RM16 3HU
Annual Salary: 34,000
Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday
Shift Times: 08:00 - 17:00
Contract: Permanent

Manpower is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Production Supervisor to support our client based in Grays. In this position, you'll oversee third-party processing activities at Lifecycle Oils contracted processing facility, ensuring seamless operations and adherence to established protocols for the intake, secure storage, processing, and dispatch of materials.

Your primary responsibility will be to verify that all processes align with the standards set for handling incoming materials, managing finished products, and accurate dispatching. A key focus will also be on accurate data collection, interpretation, and reporting to the Lifecycle Oils team in Walsall, which will support effective volume tracking and financial oversight.

While this is not a line management role, you will act as Lifecycle Oils' representative on-site, monitoring operations as the facility scales its processing of waste cooking oil. You will be based at the on-site Lifecycle Oils micro-hub, where a small team of colleagues provides support.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Health and Safety: While the 3rd party operator is responsible for site safety, you will provide support where LCO staff interact with them, raising any concerns as needed. Follow all health and safety guidelines and procedures when handling waste cooking oil, utilise appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to safety protocols at all times.
  • Quality Control: Act as LCO's on-site representative for monitoring the quality of both incoming and outgoing product loads. Ensure agreed methods and standard operating procedures are followed to maximise production yield and secure financial recovery from suppliers in cases of substandard material.
  • Information Flow and ISCC Compliance: Collaborate with the 3rd party to ensure smooth information flow for inbound and outbound loads, enabling accurate financial tracking and ensuring ISCC compliance for all site activities.
  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate with the P&K team to meet daily operational targets effectively and efficiently.
  • Environmental Compliance: While environmental compliance is the responsibility of the 3rd party, address any concerns promptly to uphold LCO's reputation as a responsible business.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Be prepared to work in shifts or extended hours as needed to support production operations.
  • Operational Improvement Support: Assist the 3rd party in identifying and implementing operational improvements, contributing to the significant scale-up required as part of LCO's broader business plan.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in conducting production activities safely, with strict adherence to safety guidelines and protocols.
  • Background in the liquid processing industry.
  • Valid Forklift Truck (FLT) certification.
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification (entry-level qualification).
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills, with GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English.
  • Experience in leading small teams in standalone processing facilities.
  • Knowledge of production and warehouse operations (preferred).
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Keen attention to maintaining an orderly, well-organised workspace, ensuring efficient storage and accessibility of products.
  • Valid Forklift Truck license with demonstrated proficiency in forklift operation (preferred)
