Accounts Team Leader - Block Management

Salary: £30k - 35k DOE + Company benefit package

Location: Burgess Hill (office based)

Hours: Mon-Thu 9am - 17.30 and Fri 9am - 17.00pm

Do you have a solid background in accountancy and bookkeeping and have experienced of managing a small team, ideally within block management or within aa property organisation? If so, I have a great role for a proactive and approachable team leader to lead a block management team of four employees within a fast paced and friendly working environment.

You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, be able to look at more efficient ways of working and be able to bring fresh ideas to help the team excel.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the daily operations in the accounts team.
  • Coach, mentor and proactive supervision of the team.
  • Oversee workflow to ensure deadlines are met, such as invoicing, reporting and reconciliations.
  • Implement new and more efficient ways of working for the team.
  • Raising ground rent and dealing with service charge accounts.
  • Raising and sending invoices - monthly & quarterly.
  • Working with external accountants to prepare year end.
  • Liasing with clients over the phone, email and correspondence.
  • Ensuring deadlines are met and assisting the team with any escalated complaints and resolving them in a timely manner.
  • Assisting with budgets, debtors & credit control.
  • Updating the systems (QUBE) accurately.
  • Attending meetings and ensuring processes and procedures are efficient.

The right candidate will have the following skills and experience to apply:

  • Proven background in account function and managing a small team.
  • Ideally have some knowledge within the property sector dealing with service charge accounts.
  • Ideally AAT/ACA qualified or qualified by experience.
  • Motivational management style with the ability to get the best out of your team.
  • Great communication and organisation skills.
  • Strong IT skills inclusive of Excel and using accountancy software packages.
  • Streamline processes and systems to improve efficiency.
  • Natural problem solver with the ability to think outside the box.
  • Good knowledge of accounts payable, credit control and assisting with month end.
  • Self-motivated and task orientated with the ability to multitask.
