SEN Teaching Assistant

GSL Education is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant primary school community in Sheffield.

Job Summary

  • Providing direct support to students with special needs, helping them with academic tasks, and ensuring they understand the material.
  • Assisting the classroom teacher in creating an inclusive learning environment.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development to stay informed about the latest strategies, techniques, and legal requirements related to special education.

Responsibilities:

  • As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing one-to-one support and assistance to students with special educational needs.
  • Assisting students with their learning activities, both in the classroom and in one-on-one sessions.
  • Providing emotional support and encouragement to students, fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborating with teachers and Special Educational Needs Coordinator to implement individualized education plans and support strategies.
  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians.

The successful candidate will:

  • Passion for working with children and a desire to make a difference in their lives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational and emotional needs of children with autism.
