Job Description:
The Mechanical Site Manager will be responsible for managing the mechanical works on a large-scale water project, ensuring all mechanical installations and maintenance are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. You will lead and coordinate teams on multiple sites across North England, reporting directly to the Project Manager, and ensuring all work complies with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day mechanical works on-site, managing mechanical teams to ensure efficient and high-quality execution of tasks.
- Ensure all mechanical installations (pumps, valves, pipework, HVAC, etc.) for water treatment plants, pumping stations, and associated infrastructure are carried out safely and to specification.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise mechanical work across multiple project sites, managing resources and schedules effectively.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and method statements, ensuring mechanical systems are installed according to design and in compliance with relevant codes.
- Provide leadership and guidance to mechanical engineers, technicians, and subcontractors, ensuring the team works to the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Conduct regular site inspections to assess progress, quality of work, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any mechanical issues that arise, providing immediate solutions to keep the project on track.
- Ensure all work is completed on time, within budget, and in line with project requirements and client expectations.
- Maintain detailed records of work progress, inspections, and any changes to project scope or plans.
- Ensure all team members are fully equipped with the right tools, PPE, and training to carry out their tasks safely and effectively.
- Liaise with the Project Manager and other stakeholders to report on progress, challenges, and milestones.
Qualifications:
- Valid CSCS card
- SMSTS
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Site Manager or in a similar senior mechanical role, with specific experience on water, wastewater, or infrastructure projects.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, including pumps, valves, pipework, and associated equipment used in water treatment and distribution.
- Strong project management skills, with experience leading teams and coordinating work across multiple sites.
- Excellent understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in the construction industry.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications.
- Proven experience with site management tools and systems for tracking progress, quality control, and safety compliance.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., HNC, Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar).
- Full UK driving license and willingness to travel across North England.
