Are you an experienced Catering Manager looking for a new opportunity? Aspire People are currently recruiting for a Catering Lead to work for a School Trust based in Burton on Trent. The main duty of the role is to provide a Trust wide, high-quality catering service which supports the wellbeing of pupils and staff, whilst meeting school catering and health and safety standards.Duties and responsibilities- Meal planning and provision- Oversee the provision of high-quality school meals across the organisation in line with government guidelines and legislation on school nutrition standards- Plan varied and nutritious whole Trust menus in advance- Negotiate best-value contracts with authorised suppliers to ensure the cost effectiveness of ingredients- Due Diligence for deliveries to schools and following of the Trust audit trail- Manage food stocks to prevent shortages or excess supply and ensuring catering staff adhere to the agreed catering budget and specifications- Cater to special dietary and allergy requirements and ensure that all legal allergy information issupported on all menus, effectively communicated to all staff and labelled in line with current legislation- Ensure consistency in food standards across all schools - Staff management- Supervise and deploy catering staff to ensure efficiency and high-quality food provision Trust wide- Prepare and oversee duty rotas, delegate tasks appropriately to staff, and ensure the smooth running of the team - Carry out performance management duties and make sure all staff in the team have relevant, required training- Promote morale and wellbeing among the catering staff- Manage multiple catering teams across the trust and move staff between teams as required- Ensure consistency in standards of work across the trust- Health and safety- Ensure compliance with school catering standards legislation and the Trust's food safety policy, health and safety policy, and allergens policy - Ensure that kitchen and dining area environments are kept clean and hygienic in all settings- Ensure that kitchen equipment is used safely and according to operating manuals across all schools- Ensure that kitchen and catering equipment is maintained according to the maintenance schedule- Arrange for all necessary repairs to be carried out to ensure the safe running of kitchen equipment and remove any faulty equipment pending repairs Trust wide. Where repair or replacement exceeds the agreed budget, discuss this with the CFO- Ensure that catering staff across the organisation adhere to proper hygiene procedures, including wearing the correct uniform- Ensure that appropriate records of all accidents and incidents are undertaken- Assist in the recruitment and selection of catering staff following Trust recruitment processes- Carry out induction and training for new staff members- Safeguarding - Work in line with statutory safeguarding guidance (including Keeping Children Safe in Education, Prevent) and the school's safeguarding and child protection policies - Promote the safeguarding of all pupils in the schoolWe are ideally looking for someone with:- Experience of working at a management level in a commercial kitchen or catering establishment including:- Line management and supervisory experience- Experience of menu planning and pricing- Experience of recording and managing stock- Experience working with young people- Level 3 Food Safety (or NVQ equivalent)- Catering, Training and Planning Diploma- Allergen Training certification- GCSE or equivalent level in English and maths - Experience of writing and presenting reports (e.g. financial reports, incident reports)If you feel you have the relevant experience/qualifications for this role, then please do apply or get in touch!I am keen to speak to experienced Catering Managers who are interested in working for a forward-thinking Trust.
