We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established residential children’s home in Burton upon Trent, supporting young people with additional needs to thrive in a nurturing, supportive environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about care work and wants to be part of a dedicated team making a genuine impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide compassionate day-to-day care and support to children with learning disabilities

  • Assist with personal care tasks including hygiene, dressing, and feeding

  • Encourage participation in educational and recreational activities both at home and in the community

  • Support the emotional development of children through positive relationships and consistent care

  • Help implement and follow individual care plans

  • Collaborate with colleagues, families, and external professionals to ensure holistic support

  • Monitor and record behaviours, progress, and care needs

  • Maintain a safe and nurturing environment at all times

  • Manage challenging behaviours using positive behaviour support techniques

  • Take part in ongoing training and team development sessions

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children, ideally with learning disabilities or additional needs (preferred but not essential)

  • Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) is an advantage

  • Empathetic, calm, and patient approach

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in duties

  • Full UK driving licence (essential) – must include business insurance
