Accountancy Recruit is partnering with a global software technology provider in the recruitment of a Financial Controller, for the global head office based in Bury St Edmunds. The business is a PE backed SME, scaling up, experiencing growth and the ambition to achieve a solid business plan. This is a new role reflective of the current success and the increasing need for management information, development of financial controls and reporting. Provision of support in setting strategy to drive the business forward and lead the direction for the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing all day-to-day finance and accounting operations
  • Manage, coach and mentor the finance team
  • Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s ledgers
  • Proactive in identifying opportunities to reduce the reporting cycle, improve accuracy and ensure that reporting evolves to reflect the changing needs of the business
  • Overseeing all financial control activities, including the review and analysis of monthly results
  • Providing the Executive Management with accurate and comprehensive financial information to guide effective policy making and financial decision making
  • Preparing and publishing accurate and timely monthly financial statements and Board pack preparation
  • Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and reporting variances
  • Act as a Business Partner to departmental budget holders to improve reporting, promote financial awareness, budgetary responsibility and provide decision making support
  • Ensure compliance with tax reporting obligations in the UK, US and other territories as required
  • Liaising with external Auditors to ensure timely and efficient preparation and reporting of statutory accounts
  • Collaborating with the CFO and other Executive team members to establish more effective and scalable systems, processes and controls
  • Ensure the systems and reporting evolve to meet the changing needs of the business
  • Assist CFO in setting the strategy and direction of the finance function

Requirements & Skills

  • Fully Qualified: ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent qualification
  • Experience as a Financial Controller ideally in a business scaling up
  • Sound IT skills, including proficiency in the relevant accounting packages and Microsoft Office, use of Google Sheets would be an advantage
  • Strong analytical skills
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of budgeting and financial forecasting
  • Ambitious for career development
  • Demonstrating natural curiosity, a passion for numbers, developed problem solving skills
  • Customer focused and commercially orientated
