Morson is partnering with a top aerospace client in the Barrow area to recruit their next Machinist. Duration- 12 Months Rates can vary depending on shift patterns. £19.40-£25.22 Location-LA14 1AF To conduct machining activities on-board the submarine units, using machines best suited to the task in accordance with the skills of the relevant In-situ Machinist. To work to drawing tolerances/parameters and quality requirements. In-situ Machining Competence supported with Skills Knowledge and Experience. All work conducted in accordance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. Knowledge of and Operating Line Boring and Gantry Milling Machines, understanding Surface finishes and how to achieve them Core Duties • Work safely at all times, complying with Health and Safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines. • Follow the relevant instructions, drawings and any other specifications, to produce work to the correct quality standards • Use the appropriate methods and techniques to conduct machining activities. • Check the completed activity to ensure that all operations have been completed to meet the required specification. Use associated tools and equipment safely and effectively Safety: The role holder is responsible for taking reasonable care of their own health and safety ensuring high standards for safety, health and environment (SHE) in our organisation are maintained. This includes co-operating and following all reasonable instruction, information and training reporting work-related hazards or incidents and using all equipment for the purpose intended. Reading / understanding technical drawings Use of measuring equipment Understanding unit of measurements (metric & imperial) Knowledge of speeds and feeds for various materials Identifying correct tooling Use of hand tools Check / maintain machinery for functionality Waste management Manual handling Marking off Awareness of Dreadnought cleanliness and material segregation requirements Flange facing operations Line boring operations In-Situ Milling operations Pipe cutting/Bevelling operations Journal Turning Key Milling Qualifications: • Served and Approved Apprenticeship (In-situ machinist, Machinist, Mechanical, Fitter/Turner) • NVQ Level 3 Equivalent Qualification About the team you’ll be working in You will be working in team of between 10-12 people.
