Mechanical Engineer

Our client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with experience in manufacturing, processing, warehouse, or cold storage environments. This is a hands-on role that involves maintaining, repairing, and improving mechanical systems to ensure smooth and safe operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform maintenance, fault-finding, and repairs on mechanical equipment.
  • Operate and maintain power tools, including drills, grinders, cutting equipment, saws, files, and presses.
  • Work safely at heights using ladders, steps, and walkways.
  • Handle hot and cold equipment, following safe systems of work and PPE requirements.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth operation of production processes.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, processing, warehouse, or cold storage environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with mechanical systems and industrial equipment.
  • Proficiency in using power tools and mechanical components.
  • Understanding of health & safety regulations and safe work practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working in temperature-variable environments (hot/cold).
Desirable:
  • Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., NVQ, HNC, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering).
  • Knowledge of risk assessments, PPE requirements, and compliance standards.
