Mechanical Engineer
Our client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with experience in manufacturing, processing, warehouse, or cold storage environments. This is a hands-on role that involves maintaining, repairing, and improving mechanical systems to ensure smooth and safe operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance, fault-finding, and repairs on mechanical equipment.
- Operate and maintain power tools, including drills, grinders, cutting equipment, saws, files, and presses.
- Work safely at heights using ladders, steps, and walkways.
- Handle hot and cold equipment, following safe systems of work and PPE requirements.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth operation of production processes.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, processing, warehouse, or cold storage environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with mechanical systems and industrial equipment.
- Proficiency in using power tools and mechanical components.
- Understanding of health & safety regulations and safe work practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable working in temperature-variable environments (hot/cold).
Desirable:
- Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., NVQ, HNC, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering).
- Knowledge of risk assessments, PPE requirements, and compliance standards.
