I am recruiting for a Buyer to join my manufacturing client in Bury St Edmunds who will implement the procurement strategy for all purchased materials.  The successful candidate will be the main contact for product related decisions to achieve operational goals of the business.  Roles and responsibilities: 
  • Working collaboratively with team members and stakeholders 
  • identify opportunities for process improvements 
  • Manage day to day operations for a designated portfolio of products 
  • Execute procurement activities with autonomy for sustainable sourcing 
  • Manage medium to large spend categories within the assigned product portfolio
  • Maintain inventory levels and ensure continuous supply 
  • Arrange and participate in supplier meetings and industry events 
  • Run contract reports and MRP 
  • Present market data and insights to stakeholders 
  • Implement cost saving initiatives 
  • Supplier negotiations 
  • Monitor global markets and staying up to date on market conditions 
  • Advise and assist stakeholders on procurement related matters 
  • Any other duties which arise which contribute to the successful running of the procurement function 
Requirements for the role: 
  • Ideally a qualification in Supply Chain 
  • Experience working within a Procurement or Supply Chain environment 
  • Strong commercial acumen 
  • Collaborative team player 
  • Strong ERP knowledge 
  • Flexibility to travel where necessary 
  • Experience of purchasing a high volume of SKU's
