Traffic Scheme Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Traffic Scheme Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role involves the design, implementation, and project management of highway and traffic schemes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in local safety schemes, accident analysis, traffic management, and traffic calming.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Design and implement traffic regulation orders (TROs) and various traffic management schemes.
  • Conduct accident analysis and develop traffic calming solutions.
  • Undertake public consultations on schemes, collate results, and address any queries or complaints from the public, councillors, or other council departments.
  • Produce detailed design and tender drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Organise and prepare reports and supplementary information for submission to the Council’s Traffic Management Unit (TMU) or other committees.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in highway and traffic scheme design, implementation, and project management.
  • Strong knowledge of Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions (TSRGD) and the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD for producing detailed design and tender drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to handle public consultations and manage feedback effectively.
