Special needs teaching assistant

We are looking for a special needs teaching assistant to work and support at a special needs school in South Gloucestershire that specialises in supporting students with mental health difficulties. This work would see the successful candidate mostly supporting on a 1:1 basis. Working hours are 8:30-3:30, Monday to Friday and term time only.

Since this is working and supporting mental health difficulties, we are looking for someone that has a resilience to challenging behaviours and can really nurture and foster relationships that exhibit lasting change on how to express their emotions. The right person will have firm boundaries and be consistent in their approach to supporting children.

We are also looking for someone that can really commit to supporting the school, since constant changes and absences can have negative impacts on children and their behaviours. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate well with other members of staff but also follow the instructions as laid out by the teacher.

You will ideally have a experience supporting in a school before, but we would be happy to consider anyone that has perhaps worked in a youth centre or supported adults with mental health difficulties.

To work with children you will need to have a enhanced DBS on the update service, this can be done as part of your application. Zen can offer competitive pay, and free CPD training courses.

Get in touch today if you are looking to make a big impact on disadvantaged children.
