Job Title: SQL Database Administrator (DBA)
Location: Surrey
Salary: Up to 50,000 per annum (Permanent Role)
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join a dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, scalability, and reliability of our SQL Server databases. A working knowledge of PostgreSQL is also desirable to support multi-database environments.
Key Responsibilities for the SQL Database Administrator:
- Analyse and enhance database performance, identify bottlenecks, and ensure the SQL Server operates at peak efficiency.
- Manage backups, recovery strategies, and database integrity to ensure data availability and security.
- Proactively monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve database-related incidents.
- Assist with the design, implementation, and upgrading of databases to support business needs.
- Implement and maintain database security standards and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
- Provide basic support for PostgreSQL databases, assisting in performance and maintenance tasks.
- Work closely with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to optimise system performance and database efficiency.
Key Requirements for the SQL Database Administrator:
- Proven experience as a SQL Database Administrator, with strong expertise in SQL Server.
- Solid understanding of database performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimisation.
- Proficiency in SQL Server tools such as SSMS, Profiler, and Performance Monitor.
- Knowledge of database design, schema management, and normalisation principles.
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL, including query performance tuning and maintenance tasks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
