The Position:

The Product Team oversees the Product Design and future enhancements. You would work to ensure the evolution of the product design and key business impacts of changing the product in line with Client, Support, Sales, External Partner and Regulatory requirements.

The position would suit a more technically minded person who is confident with technology and software and has strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Client Delivery
    • Understanding all the key client requirements impacting the product and bringing this together where required as shared functionality and driving this towards an effective product solution.
    • You will be expected to manage multiple BA requirements to bring together a product solution, this may also mean attending workshops with clients
    • Understanding regulatory impacts within your product area and ensuring these are met by the product solution.
  • SDLC
    • Lead the planning product release plans and set the expectation for delivery of new functionalities
    • Take the lead of the Core Policy scrum teams as the Product Owner
    • Ensure that the team always has an adequate amount of prior prepared tasks to work on
    • Plan and prioritize product feature backlog and development for the product
    • Provide backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of the user stories
    • Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals
    • Keep abreast with Agile/Scrum best practices and new trends
    • Key input to validating user guide material or creating it with our Technical Author.
    • Coordination/planning of dependencies between multiple development teams.
  • Sales & Partnerships (Preferable but will be coached/grown during the role)
    • Will be able to confidently demonstrate key policy features/roadmap items to our prospective clients, and field any questions they may have about the product or future direction of the solution
    • Working with the Sales team or Partners to enhance and improve the product solution and moving this from R&D type activity through to a fully integrated product feature.
  • Business Strategy (Preferable but will be coached/grown during the role)
    • Providing vision and direction to the Agile development team and stakeholders throughout the project and create requirements
    • Define product vision, roadmap, and growth opportunities
    • Assess value, develop cases, and prioritize stories, epics, and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy
    • Work closely with Management to create and maintain a product backlog according to business value or ROI
    • Research and analyse market, the users, and the roadmap for the product
    • Follow our competitors and the industry
    • Present Product Show & Tells/webinars about new features

Product Owner requirements and qualifications

  • Previous working experience as a Product Owner, (preferable insurance background /Software house)
  • Computer Science, Engineering, or similar relevant field
  • In-depth knowledge of Agile process and principles
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and leadership skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Creative thinker with a vision
  • Attention to details
