Financial AccountantCambridge£45,000 - £55,000

Reed Finance are currently recruiting for a Financial Accountant to join an organisation in the heart of Cambridge.

We are open to qualified accountants with backgrounds in industry or practice. Applicants looking for full-time work or reduced hours of 80% will be considered.

This role is integral to the finance team, providing technical accounting expertise and ensuring compliance with financial controls. The successful candidate will report directly to the Finance Director, manage a team of 3 people and play a key role in financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce accurate and complete trial balances, ensuring reconciliation between management accounts and trial balance.
  • Deliver monthly Income and Expenditure accounts, Cashflow, and Balance Sheet accounts.
  • Reconcile all general ledgers timely and manage corrective actions for unreconciled items.
  • Prepare statutory accounts and various tax returns
  • Manage external audit process, ensuring compliance with statutory reporting requirements.
  • Prepare reports for external auditors and act as the point of contact for audit queries.
  • Define and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
  • Implement financial controls to ensure policy adherence and operational effectiveness.
  • Lead initiatives to improve financial processes through technology and process automation.
  • Oversee a team of three, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Significant experience in financial management and analysis.
  • Preferably experienced within a finance function in an educational environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence non-finance colleagues.
