Job Title: Financial AccountantLocation: CambridgeHybrid Working: 3 days on-site

I have partnered with a leading Educational organisation who are recruiting for a Financial Accountant to be based in the heart of Cambridge.

This role will have a broad set of responsibilities from producing accurate financial reporting, managing the general ledger to supporting with internal controls and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and complete trial balances, reconciling with Management Accounts.
  • Lead the preparation of statutory accounts
  • Oversee Restricted Funds, Cashflow, Balance Sheet, and monthly reporting.
  • Reconcile general ledgers and address discrepancies with the Finance team.
  • Prepare statutory accounts, Direct/Indirect Tax returns, and compliance reports.
  • Manage external audits, acting as the main point of contact.
  • Apply Charities SORP updates to internal reporting.
  • Define and enforce accounting policies, financial controls, and process improvements.
  • Lead transactions finance enhancements, automation, and efficiency initiatives.
  • Support the team, and provide continuous improvement.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Head of Finance.

Qualifications and Skills

  • ACCA/ACA Qualified or Qualified by experience
  • Experience working within a education or non-for-profit environment would be desirable
  • Self-motivated, and confident
  • Willingness to learn and continue developing
  • Advanced excel and knowledge of financial systems
