Job Title: Financial AccountantLocation: Cambridge
I have partnered with a leading educational organisation who are recruiting for a Financial Accountant to be based in the heart of Cambridge.
This role will have a broad set of responsibilities from producing accurate financial reporting, managing the general ledger to supporting with internal controls and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and complete trial balances, reconciling with Management Accounts.
- Lead the preparation of statutory accounts
- Oversee Restricted Funds, Cashflow, Balance Sheet, and monthly reporting.
- Reconcile general ledgers and address discrepancies with the Finance team.
- Prepare statutory accounts, Direct/Indirect Tax returns, and compliance reports.
- Manage external audits, acting as the main point of contact.
- Apply Charities SORP updates to internal reporting.
- Define and enforce accounting policies, financial controls, and process improvements.
- Lead transactions finance enhancements, automation, and efficiency initiatives.
- Support the team, and provide continuous improvement.
- Perform other tasks as directed by the Head of Finance.
Qualifications and Skills
- ACCA/ACA Qualified or Qualified by experience
- Experience working within a education or not-for-profit environment would be desirable
- Self-motivated, and confident
- Willingness to learn and continue developing
- Advanced excel and knowledge of financial systems
