Financial Accountant

We are working with a leading technology company based in Waterbeach, who currently have an opening for a dynamic and career focused Financial Accountant to join their existing established team. The purpose of this role is to ensure accurate financial reporting and support in the preparation of statutory financial statements. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your career within a dynamic finance team, central to driving business decisions.Day-to-Day of the Role:

As a Financial Accountant, you will be involved in a variety of tasks, ensuring no two days are the same. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monthly Inventory Management: Own stock accounting, prepare monthly inventory reports, and support operations with data for inventory management.
  • Intangible Assets: Handle the R&D project register, including capitalisation and amortisation, and liaise with project managers to ensure alignment with accounting standards.
  • Fixed Assets: Manage the company’s fixed asset register, oversee asset verification, and mentor junior colleagues in asset management.
  • Accruals and Prepayments: Conduct monthly reviews and mentor junior colleagues in preparing and reviewing accruals and prepayments for accuracy.
  • Revenue and Gross Margin: Take ownership of monthly SMART reconciliation and deferred revenue schedules.
  • Annual Statutory Accounting: Assist in preparing UK statutory financial statements and ensure compliance with reporting standards.
  • Warranty Provisioning and Audit Support: Manage annual warranty provision reviews and support the Finance Manager during audits.
  • Tax Compliance: Assist in preparing annual UK tax computations and support tax planning and forecasting activities.
  • R&D Accounting: Develop reporting for R&D projects and support claims preparation in compliance with HMRC legislation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualifications: Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Experience: Experience in a similar role within a large organisation or SME.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIF), and knowledge of FRS 102 accounting standards.
  • Attributes: Strong attention to detail, proactive mindset, enthusiastic about problem-solving, and a team player eager to learn and develop.
