Job Title - Financial Controller

Salary - up to £85k

Location - Cambridge on a Hybrid basis

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our growing manufacturing company based in Cambridge. Reporting directly to the Financial Director, this role offers an exciting opportunity to play a key part in shaping our financial strategy and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Manage budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process
  • Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making
  • Manage a team of accounting professionals

Day-to-Day Duties:

  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and other financial transactions
  • Monitor cash flow and manage working capital
  • Analyse financial data and prepare management reports
  • Collaborate with department heads on budgeting and cost management
  • Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee VAT returns and other tax-related matters
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
  • Mentor and develop the finance team

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and financial reporting standards
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
