Financial Controller
Location: Fulbourn, Cambridge
Type: Full-Time | Competitive Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturer of luxury, bespoke products to find an experienced and proactive Financial Controller. The Role

In this hands-on role, youll manage both transactional finance and high-level financial strategy. From overseeing day-to-day financial operations to preparing management accounts and contributing to long-term financial planning, youll be at the heart of this company's financial success. A background in manufacturing is a big plus, as the role focuses on cost control, efficiency improvements, and supporting a growing production-based business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily Finance Operations: Manage accounts payable/receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and other financial processes.
  • Management Accounts: Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts including journal postings, prepayments, accruals, and fixed asset depreciation.
  • Financial Reporting: Generate and analyse cash flow forecasts, budget variances, and P&L reports to guide strategic decisions.
  • Audit & Compliance: Lead year-end audit processes and ensure compliance with statutory regulations.
  • Supplier & Client Relations: Manage supplier payments and resolve issues with sales invoices.
  • Credit Control: Oversee timely collection of payments and manage cash flow efficiently.
  • Taxation: Prepare and submit VAT and PAYE returns.
  • Cost Control: Oversee product costing, inventory management, and process efficiencies.
  • Collaboration: Work with production, sales, and operations teams to provide financial insights for decision-making.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least 5 years in a financial role, ideally within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Skills: Proven expertise in transactional finance, management accounting, cost control, and stock management.
  • Qualifications: CIMA, ACCA, ACA qualified (or part-qualified) or AAT with relevant experience.
  • Tools: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with business management systems.
  • Mindset: A proactive problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced environments and can work both independently and as part of a team.
