Partnership Tax Accountant required to join a high performing finance team within a National firm, who has been listed in the Best Companies to Work For list for the last 20 yearsThis is a full time, permanent role based in Norwich or Cambridge with occasional travel to other offices and hybrid working.

The role

Reporting to the firm's CFO, this role is crucial in providing tax services to the business owners of the partnership. The key activities will include preparing partner tax returns, computation of LLP tax return, offering tax advice and support to partners and advising the business as needed on related tax issues.

Key duties and responsibilitiesPartnership Tax Compliance

  • Prepare and review partnership tax returns, ensuring compliance with UK tax laws and regulations
  • Assist in the preparation of tax computations, reserves, and payment schedules, including amendments to estimated prior year returns where required, computing taxes owed or overpaid, and dealing with any related personal tax issues
  • Creating and maintain control schedules to ensure completeness of population for whom personal tax returns are required and record where responsibilities sit if not with the in-house team
  • Maintain and record the progress and status of tax returns, including tracking information received from partners to determine additional information needed
  • File personal tax returns and provide partners with submission reports
  • Preparation of annual PSA submissions and arranging for PSA tax payments to be made
  • Build strong relationships with the partners providing tax planning and consulting services as required and within agreed parameters
  • Advise on the tax implications of business decisions
  • Provide advice and support on the tax implications of leaving and joining the LLP to Partners
  • Promptly registering partners as self-employed for National Insurance and ITSA purposes and putting authorisations in place with HMRC
  • Preparing banking instructions and supporting schedules in relation to payments, e.g. to HMRC
  • Prepare aide memoires to send to partners at the start of the new tax year

Other tax related support

  • Assisting with tax related ad hoc projects as required
  • Review and preparation of capital allowances where relevant, working with external advisors as required
  • Identify and manage tax risks. Ensure that the firm and its partners are fully aware of their tax obligations and the potential risks associated with non-compliance
  • Liaison with partners, former partners and third-party agents or advisers as required
  • Analyse income and expenditure to assist in the preparation of the firm's business tax computation, working with the accounts team, external advisors and tax team as required
  • Provide ad hoc cover for the Partnership Tax Consultant role and provide support at less busy points in the personal/business tax compliance cycle, including VAT support, as required
  • Support the firm in developing its tax governance and controls processes and documentation, in line with regulations as we grow
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management on key tasks in the tax year cycle and in advance of the tax payment dates
  • Provide specific guidance to partners on tax related matters on request and issue general partner guidance on current tax issues where there may impact on partners

Qualifications and experience

  • Proven experience in a similar role within an LLP or a professional services firm
  • Strong knowledge of UK tax laws and regulations, particularly those relating to LLPs
  • A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent) is required
