Senior Finance Co-ordinator

We are seeking a Senior Finance Co-ordinator to provide comprehensive account management services and oversee the financial operations within our unit. This role involves managing monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts, preparing financial submissions, and handling budgeting processes. The successful candidate will also manage research grants, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and support various financial administrative functions.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts.
- Prepare annual financial submissions and set both pay and non-pay budgets.
- Monitor income and expenditure against targets, forecast future financial needs, and implement cost-saving measures.
- Identify funding for new needs and devise strategies for generating income.
- Implement and manage all financial systems, procedures, and new initiatives.
- Analyse financial data from university and unit financial systems.
- Provide budgetary and planning advice to the Head of Operations and prepare reports on departmental finance matters.
- Manage research grants, including arranging funding, monitoring grants, and advising on financial discrepancies.
- Ensure the integrity of data on the university’s financial system, review financial summaries, and reconcile accounts.
- Prepare for and coordinate with auditors for internal and external audits.
- Oversee the processing and preparation of invoices, banking, payroll returns, and other financial documents.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in financial management within an academic or similar setting.
- Strong ability to prepare detailed financial reports and submissions.
- Experience in managing research grants and understanding of financial regulations and accounting procedures.
- Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in university financial systems.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing a small team.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions regarding financial matters.
