We have the pleasure of recruiting for 2 fantastic colleges in Cambridge who both require a Pastry Chef. If you are a skilled Pastry Chef with a minimum NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery, then please get in touch with me today!

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Kitchen Management Team, you will oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of high-quality desserts and pastries for Fellows, students, and guests.
  • Ensure that all food preparation meets the Colleges high standards, ensuring complete customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain consistently high standards of work, ensuring productivity is upheld throughout service.
  • Contribute to the development of new menus and dishes, working closely with the Kitchen Management Team.
  • Maintain the highest levels of food safety standards at all times, adhering to hygiene regulations.
  • Be mindful of allergens and ensure all dishes are appropriately labelled.
  • Manage and assist in the receipt, storage, and handling of provisions (fresh and frozen), ensuring compliance with food hygiene regulations, correct stock rotation, and proper storage practices.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that all menus are checked, and necessary ingredients are received, prepared on time, and to the required standards in the absence of other chefs.
  • Ensure that the kitchens cleaning schedule is followed rigorously.
  • Provide training, coaching, and support to other kitchen team members, fostering a positive and efficient working environment.
  • In the absence of other chefs, provide cover as needed, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Regularly carry and lift medium to heavy loads as part of the role.
  • Commit to ongoing training and development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Head Chef or Kitchen Management Team.
