Site Engineer - Highways Earthworks and Drainage - CambridgeA leading civil engineering firm, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Site Engineer to join our team on the critical earthworks package for the new bypass construction project for the Sizewell C nuclear power plant in Leiston. This is an opportunity to contribute to a project that will help accelerate the development of a vital energy infrastructure project for the UK. Key Responsibilities:

  • Play a crucial role in the successful execution of the earthworks package, ensuring adherence to project specifications, deadlines, and safety standards.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to the construction team, ensuring adherence to project specifications, drawings, and safety protocols.
  • Oversee setting out and leveling operations, ensuring accurate placement of structures and utilities within the earthworks.
  • Monitor construction progress, identify potential issues related to excavation, fill, and compaction, and implement solutions to maintain project timelines and quality standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Champion safety on the project, promoting a culture of awareness and ensuring adherence to the highest safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Site Engineer on large-scale highway or road construction projects, with a particular focus on earthworks.
  • A strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations relevant to road construction, particularly in relation to earthworks.
  • Proficiency in using surveying equipment and software for setting out and leveling operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to managing challenges.
  • A commitment to safety, with a proven ability to implement and uphold the highest safety standards.
