Working for a fast-growing scientific company-based north of Cambridge, you will provide administrative support across a portfolio of life-science journals. If you are an excellent communicator, with an administrative background and a willingness to learn, then this could be the role for you!

In return you will get 27 days holiday + bank holidays, a non-contributory pension (8% of salary), excellent onsite parking and public transport links. Hybrid working available (usually 2 days at home and 3 days in the office).

Would suit a recent graduate interested in getting into this field or someone who has previous experience in editorial admin or similar.  

Duties & Responsibilities of the Editorial Administrator:

  • Manage the receipt of manuscripts and progress them through using the manuscript tracking system.
  • Carry out administrative duties for the authors, referees and editors.
  • Send out proofs to authors.
  • Ensure all accepted manuscripts and relevant files are passed on to appropriate departments in a timely manner.
  • Maintain efficient and rapid record keeping using the database.
  • Filing, archiving and prioritising workload.
  • Cover for other members of the journal team as required.
  • Manage all telephone queries on behalf of the author, referee, and editor.
  • Generate monthly journal statistics and transcription of interviews.

What you will need to succeed as the Editorial Administrator:

  • Previous editorial / publishing background would be advantageous
  • Excellent written and verbal communication are essential
  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel
  • Strong team player with enthusiasm and integrity, together with a proactive approach and the willingness and ability to use own initiative.
  • Ability to prioritise to meet deadlines
