This pivotal role is central to ensuring that all students, adult learners, and apprentices benefit from a rich and inclusive experience that enhances their personal growth, social development, and future success.As Student Personal Development Manager, you will oversee and coordinate an ambitious, Ofsted-aligned programme that includes tutorial content, enrichment opportunities, student voice initiatives, and cross-college events. Your leadership will ensure the development of meaningful, engaging content that reflects both national priorities and the diverse needs of our student body.This position also holds significant line management responsibility across multiple teams, ensuring that students receive consistent, high-quality support through pastoral care, personal development coaching, learning resource centres, and enrichment services.Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and implementation of the Personal Development Calendar, ensuring comprehensive coverage of relevant and impactful themes across the academic year
  • Oversee the creation and quality assurance of tutorial resources (TMail), tailored to various learner levels and delivery models, in collaboration with curriculum and quality teams
  • Deliver staff development and coaching for tutors in relation to personal development delivery
  • Plan and manage large-scale events including Freshers' Fairs, enterprise competitions, and other enrichment activities
  • Support and enhance student induction programmes, embedding a welcoming and inclusive experience
  • Coordinate student voice processes, including the recruitment and training of student reps, departmental forums, and an annual student conference
  • Lead the design, monitoring, and promotion of a cross-college enrichment programme, working with departments to drive participation and student engagement
  • Champion the work of the Students' Union, ensuring the Executive is supported in delivering campaigns and events
  • Chair the Student Awareness & Engagement sub-group of the College Environment & Sustainability Committee, with oversight of the Student Eco-Council
  • Manage the delivery of targeted pastoral support, particularly for students with EHCPs and those with high support needs
  • Develop intervention packages for students referred through 'on track' systems, collaborating closely with curriculum and student support teams
  • Ensure the effective running of Learning Resource Centres across college sites
  • Monitor participation and evaluate the impact of all personal development activities and interventions
  • Maintain vigilance around the safety and security of the college estate, challenging unauthorised access and reporting concerns
  • Support health and safety processes, liaising with the college's Health & Safety Officer where appropriate
  • Liaise with the Student Liaison Team on matters relating to behaviour, safeguarding, and student welfare
  • People Management
  • Lead and manage the following teams:
  • o Personal Development Coaches
  • o Learning Resource Centre (LRC) staff
  • o Gym Supervisor
  • o Pastoral Support Coordinator
  • Take full responsibility for performance management, including 1:1s, appraisals, probation reviews, sickness/absence management, and setting development targets
  • Ensure all staff are suitably qualified, inducted, and supported in line with college standards
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture through regular communication and shared accountability
  • Ensure full compliance with employment policies and procedures
