About the Role
My client is seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Design Engineer to provide technical leadership, drive project success, and contribute to the growth of our dynamic MEP team. You will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality designs, mentoring engineers, and ensuring seamless project execution across a diverse range of sectors.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead electrical design projects from concept to completion, ensuring technical excellence.
* Provide strategic input and technical leadership within multidisciplinary teams.
* Oversee feasibility studies, design specifications, and project deliverables.
* Manage client relationships, interpreting project requirements to meet their needs.
* Supervise, mentor, and develop junior engineers to strengthen team capabilities.
* Ensure compliance with UK and European regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
* Review design programmes and allocate resources effectively to meet project timelines.

Your Team & Work Environment
* You will be part of a collaborative MEP team in Cambridge, working alongside mechanical, electrical, and public health engineers.
* As part of a national network of nearly 400 MEP engineers, you'll benefit from shared knowledge, innovation, and career development opportunities.

Technical Expertise
* In-depth knowledge of UK and European electrical regulations.
* Strong experience with electrical design software, Revit MEP, and AutoCAD.
* Ability to produce and review detailed designs and performance specifications.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts effectively.

Key Electrical Skills
* Low voltage distribution systems and standby generation.
* UPS systems, lighting design, and cable calculations.
* Fire alarms, security systems, and access control.
* Data cabling, disabled call systems, and lightning protection.

Qualifications & Professional Development
* BEng/BSc/MEng in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
* CIBSE / IET / Engineering Council accredited degree or equivalent experience.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards CEng status.
* Extensive experience in leading electrical engineering design projects.
