Job title: Communications and Events Officer

Reporting to: CEO

Key Roles: To deliver CAVA's communication channels and programme of annual events.

Working with: Director of Quality and Development, Quality Manager, Quality and Operations Officer, Quality and Development Officers, and CAVA community.

The Officer will perform these key functions:

  • manage and maintain CAVA’s social media channels and website

  • deliver CAVA’s communication strategy including targeted messaging and promotional materials

  • write and distribute monthly e-newsletters and blog posts for CAVA members

  • collaborate with CAVA members to collect case studies and promotional materials

  • promote Access to HE and Pre-Access qualifications across multiple platforms

  • support CAVA’s new business development by coordinating communications and networking opportunities

  • organise and deliver the CAVA annual conference, managing logistics, marketing and communications

  • plan, schedule and facilitate virtual and in-person workshops throughout the year

  • administer and facilitate working group meetings

  • support CAVA’s strategic engagement with Artificial Intelligence

  • administer and grow CAVA’s alumni groups

  • liaise with external agencies and stakeholders to promote CAVA interests

  • promote and adhere to CAVA’s organisational values

  • any other duties appropriate to the role and deemed necessary for the effective operation of CAVA.

Workbase: Hybrid working (office based in Central Cambridge) (the job entails occasional travelling to member and associate institutions)

About CAVA

The Cambridge Access Validating Agency (CAVA) was founded in partnership between eight further education providers and three higher education institutions more than 20 years ago, united around their central passion for supporting social mobility and lifelong learning. That same passion drives us today to help adults achieve their aspirations through education.

Our original members have stayed with us on this journey, and our membership community has grown to over 30 further education providers and six higher education institutions across England. As an Access Validating Agency (AVA) licensed by the QAA, we design, validate, quality assure, and award the Access to Higher Education (HE) Diplomas. We also work in partnership with the NOCN Group to offer Pre-Access qualifications. We have thousands of adult students studying our courses at our members nationwide every year.

About the role

We are seeking a Communications and Events Officer to manage our communication channels and deliver our annual programme of events. This role is perfect for a motivated professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience in digital communications, and a passion for event management.
