HSE Advisor - Civils/Groundworks (residential projects)

Overview:

Our client are industry leaders in residential groundworks/ civils projects, operating across 7 regions and continuing to expand year on year, now is an excellent time to be joining the team! This role is perfect for a Health & Safety focused individual who has gained experience working for a civil/ groundworks focused company, preferably with knowledge of residential new builds however we can show flexibility on these aspects for the right person.

The continuous growth has created the need for a HSE Advisor to join the team in Cambridgeshire. Operating across the region, with site locations being between Cambridge - Essex, although predominantly in and around Cambridge. Along with the use of a local office the successful HSE will have an active presence on various sites.

Responsibilities

  • Attend pre-com meetings as requested to contribute to the initial decisions made by the contract team.

  • Provide assistance to the organisation to enable statutory notices to be applied for when required.

  • Bring to the attention of the senior management teams any serious breaches of Company policy, procedures and legislation.

  • Promote a positive H&S Culture within the Company.

  • Assist the Regional SHE Manager to prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policy.

  • Produce RAMS.

  • Planned site visits and audits including reporting and follow up actions.

  • Identify training needs and deliver on site training including toolbox talks.

  • Investigate accidents and incidents.

Qualifications/ Experience

  • Preferably from a construction degree background, however open to candidates who have progressed within a company and gained relevant experience.

  • Prior experience in a Health & Safety focused construction position (2+ years).

  • NEBOSH/ IOSH qualifications

  • Previous experience on groundworks/ civils projects, i.e roadworks, site layout, drainage etc.

  • Previous experience on residential/ new build developments.

  • Capable of tackling problems, raising concerns and providing advice on-site with any H&S concerns that arise.

  • Strong communicator, excellent english reading & writing skills.

  • Authorised to work in the UK + UK driving license (no sponsorship on offer).
