We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a software development pod within our clients organisation. This role is pivotal in managing the design, delivery, maintenance, and support of bespoke software and microservice-based architecture. The successful candidate will align high-quality deliverables with business and department strategy, ensuring technical excellence across the board.

Day-to-Day of the Role:
  • Act as the lead decision-maker on what the pod designs and delivers, providing technical leadership and hands-on technical analysis when necessary.
  • Ensure technology development aligns with quality standards and client or product specifications.
  • Lead the development of front-end and back-end solutions that are resilient, secure, and scalable.
  • Uphold best practices within the team to ensure the creation of clean and maintainable code.
  • Design and implement features and services with team members.
  • Oversee delivery of high-speed iterations, high code quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for the realisation of high-level designs into technical solutions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Significant software development and engineering experience in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Proven team and project management skills, capable of managing both BAU and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex business scenarios.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and a keen sense of user experience.
  • Experience in building full-stack applications and architecting cloud-based solutions.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript or C#, with a strong command of SQL (preferably T-SQL).
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD practices, and building APIs and scalable backend platforms.
  • Experience with AWS/Azure and understanding of MACH architecture principles.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with GitHub, GitLab, or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with test automation.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Physical Chemistry is preferred but not required.
