If so, this exciting opportunity as a Learning Support Mentor within the Construction Department could be the perfect fit for you.Role OverviewThe Learning Support Mentor will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students with additional needs. Working collaboratively with teaching staff, you will ensure learners can fully access the curriculum and achieve their personalised learning outcomes.Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborative Support: Assist students in a variety of learning environments by providing support with reading, note-taking, using enabling technologies, and other essential skills.
  • Student Empowerment: Help learners meet their personalised Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes and develop independence.
  • Resource Adaptation: Modify classroom resources, such as enlarging text or simplifying language, to suit individual learning needs.
  • Holistic Assistance: Provide support beyond the classroom, including during breaks, lunch, trips, and off-campus study programmes.
  • Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, targets, and progress, ensuring all support guidelines are met.
What You’ll Bring
  • Experience supporting young people with learning difficulties or disabilities, ideally in an educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for inclusion and diversity.
  • A proactive approach to adapting learning materials and meeting varied learner needs.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
  • GCSEs or equivalent qualifications in English and maths (grade C or above).
