The client in Cambridge is seeking a Head of Purchasing for a full-time, permanent role with an immediate start available.
The position involves overseeing all procurement responsibilities, optimizing costs, ensuring timely delivery, and building strong supplier relationships.
Candidates should have extensive supply chain experience within the electronics or telecommunications industry and experience managing global suppliers.
The role requires a results-driven individual with strong IT skills and the ability to influence at a senior level, ideally holding an MCIPS qualification.
The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience, with a preference for candidates with significant experience in procurement.

I am assisting my client in Cambridge in their search for a Head of Purchasing. This is a full time, permanent role and an immediate start is available for the right candidate. As Head of Purchasing, all procurement responsibilities within the organisation will fall in to your remit and you will pay a critical role in optimising costs, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services and building strong supplier relationships. Your responsibilities include:

Identify cost saving opportunities and implement best practice
Evaluate and select vendors based on quality, reliability and price
Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers
Monitor vendor performance
Analyse spending patterns and identify areas for cost reduction
Negotiate with suppliers to delivery cost savings
Implement cost effective procurement processes
Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless supply chain operations
Forecast demand and manage inventory levels in line with business objectives
Assess and mitigate supply chain risks
Stay informed about market trends and potential disruptions
Lead the procurement team
Establish and monitor key performance indicators
Ensure all procurement activities adhere to regulatory standards and organisational policies
Supply chain strategy definition and deployment for new products
Supplier identification
Manage and represent the company with major suppliers
Commodity market analysis

Requirements for the role:

Results driven and cost focused
Experience working with global suppliers
MCIPS qualification ideally
Extensive supply chain experience within the electronics or telecommunications industry
Experience managing global suppliers
Team management experience
Strong IT skills
Experience of offshore contract manufacturing management
Ability to influence at senior level
Ability and willingness to travel internationally when required
