About the Business

An opportunity to be an Interim Financial Controller for a manufacturing business based in Cannock. This job can be on a day rate orsalary. The role itself is for a sub £50m manufacturing business, part of a wider group.

Main Duties:

As an Interim Financial Controller, your main duties include:

  • Supervising a team of three, providing mentorship to more junior staff.
  • Acting as the primary commercial finance partner to senior operational staff.
  • Collaborating with senior leadership to deliver financial reports and support strategic decision-making.
  • Overseeing banking relationships and preparing cash flow forecasts.
  • Leading the processes of forecasting and budgeting.
  • Handling the daily operations of the finance department.
  • Managing cash flow on a daily basis, including overseeing credit control, processing supplier payments and producing cash flow projections.
  • Offering support for various finance roles when necessary.
  • Reviewing and assisting in the completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparing monthly financial results with commentary, ensuring adherence to reporting deadlines.
  • Completing quarterly VAT returns.
  • Coordinating annual audit processes and supporting tax return preparations in collaboration with external financial advisors.
  • Analysing and enhancing systems, processes, and controls to boost efficiency, improve accuracy and timeliness of financial data, and reduce the risk of fraudulent activities.
  • Providing assistance to the CFO as needed.
  • Any other ad-hoc duties related to the efficient running of the finance department.

Location / Office / Culture

This role is hybrid with their offices based in Cannock. There is a friendly finance team of 4, and you will be a key partner to the onsite management team. You will manage both the "accounting" side of finance, whilst being a key commercial lead, representing finance in the business.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Able to demonstrate relevant experience in managing/supervising teams
  • Must be IT literate with good systems knowledge
  • Experience in a small to medium sized business
  • Good knowledge of all aspects of Finance from transactional to complete sets of accounts
  • Experience within manufacturing an advantage
