Job Title: Deputy Manager / Clinical Lead Nurse
Location: Cannock
Salary: £45,000 - £48,000 per year
Job Type: Permanent/Full time(45 hours per week) - Hours per week as specified by the contract as minimum as required to meet the needs of the Care Home, on call required every other weekend.
About the role:
To support the Manager by leading the clinical management of the home. To assume responsibilities of the Manager in his/her absence. To create and maintain an environment that respects the rights and wishes of the residents and encourages person-centred care and independence.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assume overall responsibility for all clinical issues within the Care Home.
- Assist in the overall management of the Care Home, promoting a homely, safe environment with a focus on quality care provision.
- Be conversant with the home’s policies and procedures and the regulatory framework with which the home is required to comply and ensure that the home operates in accordance with these.
- Ensure care practices are reflective of the requirements of the statutory bodies and the latest research and that such practices are reviewed and developed regularly in order to ensure best practice.
- Ensure a system is in place that promotes residents’ participation in the planning and reviewing of care.
- Maintain an efficient system for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care.
- Ensure an appropriate exchange of information between all grades of staff to promote continuity of care.
- Liaise with relevant parties in order to facilitate service user care and well-being.
- Report any actual or potential shortfalls in the provision of service user care to the Care Home Manager or Named Individual.
- Ensure the safe administration of drugs in accordance with NMC guidelines and the home’s policies and procedures, reporting to the Care Home Manager as necessary.
- Delegate duties to other staff members and monitor their performance.
- Provide advice to the Care Home Manager in respect of the clinical needs of the Care Home in recruitment and selection of staff.
- Maintain effective systems for the development and management of infection control, service user moving and handling, tissue viability and meeting the nutritional needs of Service Users.
- Provide guidance and training to relevant staff on the above.
- Assume full responsibility for professional development of registered nurses and care staff.
- Contribute to the continuing development of the Care Home through professional self-development and the promotion of evidence-based practice.
- Provide advice to the Care Home Manager in respect of the clinical needs of the Care Home in respect of achieving optimum daily staffing (Rota setting).
- Promote the effective and efficient use of all resources and supplies to maintain an adequate stock level of all items appropriate to the needs of the Care Home and its service users.
- Be available for duty on an “on-call” basis for all clinical issues and as required for all Care Home issues in the absence of the Care Home Manager.
- To undertake other duties applicable to the post, as necessary for the efficient running of the Care Home and effective delivery of care.
- HEALTH AND SAFETY
Be conversant with and ensure all staff are aware of the requirements under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and of the need for their compliance. Advise the Care Home Manager of any areas of concern.
Northgate Healthcare will fully fund level 5 in Health and Social care.
NIGHT DUTY & NIGHT VISITS
This is a wakeful duty unless notified otherwise. You will be expected to accompany the Care Home Manager to do night time visits for quality assurance

Registered nurse with experience caring for the Service User group, and knowledge and experience of working in the independent sector.
