Role

Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS) opened to our first cohort of 108 pioneer students in September 2020. Our vision for KMMS is to create a new medical school for Kent and Medway that becomes a beacon for first-class medical education and research.

The Student Recruitment and Event Officer will support the Marketing, Outreach and Engagement Manager to deliver a wide range of internal and external events to ensure that KMMS successfully recruits students from across the UK and internationally, with a particular focus on attracting students traditionally less well represented in medicine.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Programme manage and deliver a complex interview event for 550 students as part of the competitive entry cycle to study medicine at KMMS. To run in January 2025.
  • Oversee the co-ordination and execution of the annual Multi-station Mini Interviews (MMIs), including both in-person (home) and virtual (international). This involves managing the events team, ensuring smooth delivery, and overseeing evaluation processes.
  • Coordinate communications and scheduling for external volunteers supporting the MMIs, including NHS partners and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with external teams to establish clear communications with MMI candidates.
  • Manage and maintain the MMI email account, ensuring timely responses and efficient handling of inquiries.
  • Utilise the RISR system to set up and manage exams, including uploading candidate data and interview resources.
  • Liaise with various internal departments (IT, Housekeeping, Room Bookings, Catering) to ensure all logistical aspects of the MMIs are in place.
  • Provide training materials and resources to staff members volunteering for the MMIs, ensuring they are well-prepared for their roles.

Skills and experience

  • GCSES and A Levels or equivalent
  • Understanding of Higher Education recruitment, the student experience and understanding of current issues surrounding undergraduate students.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including experience of delivering effective presentations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Good IT skills and experience of using databases and spreadsheets regularly.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
