gap healthcare is currently recruiting for a new and exciting opportunity on behalf of our clients based in Canterbury for an experienced Team Leader for a children’s registered service.Â
Must be open to working on weekdays and weekends, with flexibility for day and night shifts as necessary.
Salary - £26,000 - £30,160
General Duties:
- Adhere to the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards, organisational policies, and good practice requirements.
- Organise and lead shifts to support children’s individual needs.
- Encourage participation in home routines, activities, and educational support.
- Promote well-being by maintaining a bullying-free and fair environment.
- Support staff in helping children deal with conflict and trauma.
Leadership and People Management:
- Lead by example and develop effective teams.
- Understand and communicate the impact of trauma on children and young people.
- Foster a positive working environment that nurtures and rewards good practice.
- Build and maintain good relationships between staff and the children.
- Take the lead in meetings and manage change effectively.
- Participate in the induction of new employees and work closely with senior management.
- Oversee medication, accidents, incidents, and allegations in the absence of senior management.
- Support staff in using PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy).
Quality Management:
- Ensure the home is run in line with statutory and organisational policies.
- Take key worker responsibilities and allocate tasks to team members.
- Complete chronologies and monthly reports for children in the home.
- Ensure all risk assessments are up to date.
- Conduct key working sessions aligned with Care Plans and Placement Plans.
- Prepare for CIC Reviews, complete reports, and follow up on action plans.
- Celebrate children’s birthdays and special events.
- Maintain professional relationships with social workers and team managers.
- Oversee the induction of new children and ensure access to community resources.
- Conduct monthly quality audits of your work.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in a leadership role within a children’s residential care setting.
- Strong understanding of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage and support a team effectively.
- Commitment to promoting the welfare and development of children and young people.
