Licensing Officer - Essex based organisation

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated individual to support a Council in providing an efficient licensing service to both the public and the organisation. This role involves a variety of technical and professional responsibilities linked to the Council's current and future licensing functions, while contributing to the Council's overarching goals and continuous service improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce licensing conditions as an authorised officer, which may involve conducting site visits, including late-night and occasional weekend inspections, as part of your regular duties.
  • Manage aspects of the Licensing Act 2003, hackney carriage and private hire licensing, Gambling Act 2005, charitable collections, as well as boatman and pleasure boat licensing.
  • Process and determine applications for various licences, permits, and registrations, working closely with relevant authorities and internal teams.
  • Maintain organised and accurate records relating to all licensing functions.
  • Prepare reports and attend Licensing Committee or Sub-Committee meetings to support the Council's licensing duties.
  • Provide testimony in court proceedings resulting from prosecutions or appeals connected to the Council's licensing responsibilities.
