We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Residential Estimator with expertise in Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) to join our clients team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analysing project specifications, and collaborating with architects, engineers, and suppliers to ensure cost-effective and efficient project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for residential construction projects using MMC techniques.
  • Analyze architectural and engineering drawings to determine project scope and material requirements.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and ensure cost accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain a database of unit costs and pricing structures specific to MMC projects.
  • Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and recommend value engineering solutions.
  • Assess project risks and provide cost implications for alternative construction methodologies.
  • Ensure all estimates comply with industry standards, building regulations, and client specifications.
  • Work closely with project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure seamless execution.
  • Monitor project budgets and adjust estimates as needed to reflect changing conditions.
  • Utilize estimation software and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy in cost assessments.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator in residential construction, preferably with MMC experience.
  • Strong knowledge of modular construction, panelized systems, timber frames, and other MMC techniques.
  • Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Bluebeam, CostX, Planswift, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Familiarity with construction regulations, codes, and compliance standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience with affordable housing projects, social housing, or public sector developments.
  • Familiarity with sustainability and energy-efficient building practices.
  • Membership with a professional body such as RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building).
