Job Summary for an Estimator
Blue Water Recruitment are looking for an Estimator to join a leading construction compan and its growing team in the Cardiff area. The role involves preparing accurate cost estimates for a variety of projects, ensuring competitive pricing, and supporting the business in securing new work. The ideal candidate will have strong commercial awareness, excellent attention to detail, and the ability ti work collaberatively with internal teams and external suppliers.

Key Responsibilities of an Estimator

-Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and profitability.
- Analyse drawings, specifications, and project requirements to produce take-offs and cost breakdowns.
- Work with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
- Assist with tender preparation and bid submissions.
- Review schedules of rates to ensure cost-effective project execution.
- Conduct site visits and assessments to support estimation accuracy.
- Collaborate with project managers and finance teams to monitor budgets and control costs.

Requirements of an Estimator

- Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and pricing.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and estimating software.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK Driving licence and willingness to travel for site visits when required.
