Job Summary:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled IFRS Financial Accountant to join the finance team of a leading insurance company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the preparation, analysis, and presentation of financial reports in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and insurance-specific regulations. You will ensure the accuracy of the company's financial records, compliance with industry regulations, and provide key support during audits and financial planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare statutory financial statements for the insurance entity in compliance with IFRS, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Provide technical guidance on IFRS accounting treatments, especially those related to insurance contracts (IFRS 17).
  • Collaborate with actuarial teams to ensure accurate recording of insurance provisions, reserves, and premium revenues.
  • Lead the implementation of new IFRS standards, across the finance department.
  • Manage the financial reporting process for the insurance business, ensuring alignment with group policies and industry-specific regulations.
  • Coordinate the annual audit process, acting as the primary liaison with external auditors, and address audit queries.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments are completed in line with IFRS.
  • Analyse financial data to provide insights and recommendations to senior management for decision-making.
  • Work closely with tax and compliance teams to ensure accurate and timely submission of tax returns and regulatory reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of internal management reports, including variance analysis and financial forecasts.
  • Participate in process improvements, automation initiatives, and system upgrades within the finance team.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) with strong knowledge of IFRS.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial reporting, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry.
  • Strong experience in external audit or financial accounting in the insurance sector is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS and its application to the insurance sector.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
